We all love to capture photos in order to preserve the happy memories with our friends, family or relatives. However once we capture a photo or video, most of us don’t think about backing up them up. There aremany inevitable things that an happen to your phone, for example your phone can get corrupted or stolen without any warning. I definitely don’t want this to happen with your phones, but in case something similar happens you are going to lose all the photos and videos that you’ve captured and stored on your phone.
While you can buy a new phone afterwards, but you can’t get back all those sweet memories that you had captured on your phone. This is why you should consider backing up your photos online so that you won’t lose them even if your phone gets corrupted or stolen.
Fortunately, if you are an Android user, you don’t have to worry about installing any third party application to automatically backup your photos. All android phones come with the Google+ app installed on them and you will should know that the Google+ app has a useful feature that automatically uploads all your photos and videos online. The feature is known as Auto-backup and it uses the 15GB of free storage space provided by Google to store your photos and videos online.
Before you make use of the auto backup feature in Google+ you will need to make sure that your phone is connected to an unlimited internet connection. If you are not on an Unlimited data connection, the data transferred in auto backup will add up to the upload bandwidth and if your ISP charges for uploads, you might end up receiving a huge bill. So for those who want to enable the auto backup feature in Google plus, here’s how you can do it.
How to Automatically Backup Photos and Videos from your Android phone
- Step 1: Open the Google+ app on your Android phone.
- Step 2: Go to the Settings.
- Step 3: Tap on ” Auto-Backup “.
- Step 4: Turn on the Auto Backup Feature by tapping on the the Off button to the top right.
- Step 5: Tap on ” Back up Photos “.
- Step 6: Select ” Over WiFi Only ” in case you have an unlimited internet connection over WiFi.
- Step 7: Since uploading is a battery hungry feature, you should also tap on “While charging only “ so that your photos are only uploaded when your phone is connected to a charger.
- Step 8: In case you want to backup videos too, you can tap on ” Back up all ” option and then tap on ” yes “.
That’s it, now all your photos and videos will be automatically uploaded to Google+ and you don’t have to worry anymore about your phone getting corrupted or losing it. You will keep on getting frequent notification about the upload status of your photo and videos.
